Visa Requirements

ECOWAS citizens enter Ghana visa-free. African Union passport holders can get visa on arrival ($150). Other nationalities should apply via embassy or the Ghana e-Visa system. Yellow fever vaccination is mandatory — carry your yellow card. See our visa requirements page.

Currency

The Ghana Cedi (GHS) is the local currency. ATMs and forex bureaux are available at Kotoka Airport. Kumasi and Tamale have limited airport exchange facilities — exchange money in Accra or withdraw from city ATMs.

SIM Cards

MTN Ghana, Vodafone, and AirtelTigo offer SIM cards at Kotoka Airport. Data is very affordable (1GB from GHS 5). Registration requires passport and biometric verification.

Transport

Uber and Bolt work well in Accra but have limited availability in Kumasi and Tamale. Airport taxis and hotel shuttles are the main options outside Accra.
