The Embassy of Ghana in Abu Dhabi is the only Ghanaian diplomatic mission in the United Arab Emirates. Opening hours follow the UAE working week (Saturday–Sunday weekend), with a shortened Friday. Always confirm hours before travelling, especially around Ghanaian national holidays, UAE public holidays and Ramadan, when schedules change.

Passport Services

The Ghanaian Community in the UAE
The UAE hosts one of the fastest-growing Ghanaian communities in the Gulf. Most Ghanaians are concentrated in Dubai and Sharjah, working in aviation and cabin crew roles, hospitality, security services, logistics, retail and professional services, with smaller communities in Abu Dhabi and the northern emirates. Dubai is also a major trading hub for Ghanaian businesspeople who buy goods for import into Ghana, and direct flights connect Dubai with Accra’s Kotoka International Airport.
Because the community is centred on Dubai while the embassy sits in Abu Dhabi, most consular visits involve a trip of roughly 90 minutes each way along the E11 highway. Intercity buses run frequently between Dubai (Ibn Battuta and Al Ghubaiba stations) and Abu Dhabi Central Bus Station, from where a short taxi ride reaches the Al Rowdah area. Build the travel time into your plans — arriving after the morning rush gives you the best chance of completing biometric capture or document submission in one visit.
How Appointments Work
Like most Ghana missions, the Abu Dhabi embassy expects applicants to make contact before attending, particularly for passport biometric enrolment and Ghana Card matters. Phone or email the mission using the details above, state the service you need, and ask what documents to bring — requirements occasionally change, and confirming in advance saves a second cross-country trip. Walk-in enquiries are generally possible during opening hours for simple matters such as collecting completed documents, but the embassy’s own instructions always take precedence over anything published on third-party sites, including this one.
Fees for consular services are set centrally by Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs but collected locally; amounts and accepted payment methods vary by mission, so confirm the current figure with the embassy before you travel.
