One Mission, a Very Large Country
Unlike some diaspora hubs where Ghana operates several consulates, South Africa is covered by the single mission in Pretoria. That matters practically: Cape Town is roughly 1,400 km away and Durban around 600 km, so most Ghanaians outside Gauteng plan a dedicated trip — or combine biometric appointments with other business in Johannesburg or Pretoria. Wherever possible, confirm your appointment and your document checklist with the mission before travelling, so a missing paper does not cost you a second trip.

Appointments and Visiting the Mission

Travelling to Ghana from South Africa
Direct flights link Johannesburg (O.R. Tambo) with Accra’s Kotoka International Airport. Every traveller to Ghana — Ghanaian or otherwise — must carry a valid Yellow Fever vaccination certificate, which is checked on arrival. Foreign nationals from countries without a waiver can apply through the mission or via the e-Visa portal at evisa.ghana.gov.gh.
