Ghana Passport Services in Italy
Complete guide to applying for or renewing your Ghana passport at the Ghana Embassy Rome. Includes requirements, fees, appointment process, and processing times.
- Register for a Ghana Card at the Ghana Embassy Rome (if you do not have one)
- Apply online at passport.mfa.gov.gh
- Upload your photo (white background, JPEG/PDF format)
- Enter your Ghana Card number and personal details
- Pay the fee online or select pay-at-counter
- Print your application form and sign it
- Book an appointment at the Ghana Embassy Rome
- Attend for biometric capture with all documents
- Wait for processing (4-8 weeks for renewal, 6-10 weeks for new)
- Collect your passport when notified
For Passport Renewal
- Current or expired Ghana passport (original)
- Printed and signed online application form
- Ghana Card
- Four passport photographs (white background, 35mm x 45mm)
- Proof of residence in Italy
- Payment receipt or fee
For New Passport (First Time)
- Ghana birth certificate
- Ghana Card
- Guarantor declaration (two Ghanaian citizens with valid passports)
- Six passport photographs
- Completed application form
- Payment receipt or fee

Standard passport renewal at the Ghana Embassy Rome takes approximately 4-8 weeks from the date of biometric capture. New applications may take 6-10 weeks.
For urgent travel, the Ghana Embassy Rome can issue an Emergency Travel Certificate (ETC) within 1-3 working days. This is a single-journey document for returning to Ghana or your country of residence. It is not a full passport.
