Ghana Biometric Passport - New Application Process

Updated March 2026

The Passport Application Centre in Accra continues to modernise passport issuance. All Ghana embassies and high commissions now require biometric data capture (fingerprints and photograph) as part of the passport application process. Paper-based emergency travel documents remain available for urgent cases.

Applicants at embassies abroad should expect processing times of 6-8 weeks for standard applications, as all passports are printed centrally in Accra and dispatched to missions via diplomatic bag.
