Online Applications: Ghana has moved most passport applications online. Visit passport.mfa.gov.gh to start your application. You will still need to attend an embassy in person for biometric capture.

Step-by-Step: Online Passport Application

  1. Visit passport.mfa.gov.gh and create an account
  2. Select your application type (new, renewal, replacement, child)
  3. Enter your Ghana Card number (mandatory)
  4. Fill in personal details, upload passport photo (white background, JPEG/PDF)
  5. Add guarantor details (two guarantors required for new applications)
  6. Pay the application fee online or select pay-at-counter
  7. Print the completed application form and sign it
  8. Book an appointment at your nearest embassy for biometric capture
  9. Attend with your printed form, old passport (if renewing), photographs, and fee receipt

Yes. Most Ghana embassies require appointments for passport biometric capture and other in-person services. Appointments are typically available Monday to Thursday, 9:30am to 1:30pm. Book through the embassy directly.

Passport photos must be in JPEG or PDF format with a white background. Your full face, forehead, and ears must be visible. No eyewear, large earrings, or decorative headgear is permitted. Physical photos should be 35mm x 45mm.
