- Register for a Ghana Card at the Ghana Embassy Abu Dhabi (if you do not have one)
- Apply online at passport.mfa.gov.gh
- Upload your photo (white background, JPEG/PDF format)
- Enter your Ghana Card number and personal details
- Pay the fee online or select pay-at-counter
- Print your application form and sign it
- Book an appointment at the Ghana Embassy Abu Dhabi
- Attend for biometric capture with all documents
- Wait for processing (4-8 weeks for renewal, 6-10 weeks for new)
- Collect your passport when notified

- Current or expired Ghana passport (original)

Standard passport renewal at the Ghana Embassy Abu Dhabi takes approximately 4-8 weeks from the date of biometric capture. New applications may take 6-10 weeks.
For urgent travel, the Ghana Embassy Abu Dhabi can issue an Emergency Travel Certificate (ETC) within 1-3 working days. This is a single-journey document for returning to Ghana or your country of residence. It is not a full passport.
