Water & Food Safety

Water

  • Do not drink tap water — use sealed bottled water (Voltic, Awake, Verna)
  • Sachet water (pure water) from branded producers is generally safe
  • Carry water purification tablets for rural areas
  • Avoid ice unless from trusted hotels

Food

  • Freshly cooked hot food is generally safe — banku, fufu, kelewele, jollof
  • Choose busy chop bars with high turnover
  • Avoid raw salads and unpeeled fruit in budget places
  • Hand sanitiser before every meal
