The world largest man-made lake by surface area (8,502 sq km). Boat cruises from Akosombo, fishing trips, and island visits. The Akosombo Dam that created the lake is itself worth a visit. Dodi Island offers a beach resort experience on the lake.

4. Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary

A community-run sanctuary protecting sacred Mona monkeys. The monkeys are habituated and come close to visitors. A 30-minute guided walk through the forest brings you face-to-face with these playful primates. Support goes directly to the local community.

5. Kpetoe Kente Weaving Centre

The Ewe people of the Volta Region have their own distinct Kente tradition, different from Ashanti Kente. Visit Kpetoe to see weavers at work and learn about the differences. Ewe Kente features more figurative designs and wider cloth strips.
